Submission to God Manifests Peace ☮️🕊️
“Submit to God, and you will have peace; then things will go well for you.
Listen to His instructions, and store them in your heart.”
— Job 22:21–22 (NLT)
As I read this scripture this evening, it deeply resonated within me. It revealed how truly deceived we can be when we allow the enemy to influence our thinking.
Satan has tricked many of us into believing that chasing material things will bring us peace. But Scripture reminds us, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7). The way we think inevitably determines the course of our actions.
We must begin to change the way we think. One of the enemy’s greatest tactics is keeping us so distracted by what’s happening around us that we neglect our inner man. When our focus is misplaced, full submission to God becomes difficult.
Often, we are not fully submitted because we are consumed by our emotions and overwhelmed by external circumstances. As a result, we find ourselves lacking peace.
We have also made the mistake of trusting man instead of trusting God. How quickly we pick up the phone to vent, rant, or complain—when we should first pause and pray. I, too, have been guilty of this.
Wherever you are and whatever you are doing right now, I encourage you to pause.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Now… just breathe.
You truly have the grace to govern yourself and to choose how you respond to the stimuli around you.
Let God be God.
Exercise self-control. Be patient with yourself. Practice may not make you perfect, but it does form habits—and those habits will lead you into greater peace.
The peace of God—which surpasses all understanding—will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Closing Prayer
Father God,
We come before You with humble hearts, acknowledging that true peace comes only from You. Forgive us for the times we have trusted in our own understanding, leaned on others more than You, or allowed our emotions and circumstances to lead us instead of Your Spirit.
Teach us to fully submit to You—our thoughts, our desires, our responses, and our will. Renew our minds and help us to release every burden, distraction, and misplaced pursuit that steals our peace.
Lord, help us to pause, to breathe, and to remember that You are in control. Strengthen us with self-control, patience, and discernment. Guard our hearts and our minds with Your perfect peace, the peace that surpasses all understanding.
We choose today to let You be God. We surrender every anxious thought and trust You completely. May our lives reflect Your presence, Your order, and Your peace.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen. 🕊️☮️
