The Surreal Truth
John 8:32 (NLT)
“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
There comes a moment when the truth no longer whispers—it confronts you.
Not the truth about everyone else, but the truth about yourself.
The painful truth I have been avoiding isn’t hidden because I couldn’t see it. It was hidden because it hurt too much to face.
Then came the realization…
What I have been carrying is the very thing God has been asking me to lay down.
The weight.
The expectations.
The people.
The titles.
The image.
The pretending.
Who really wants to deal with the naked truth?
The truth that says, “You’re exhausted because you’ve been living beneath your purpose.”
The truth that says, “You’re holding on to things I’ve already told you to release.”
The truth that says, “You’ve outgrown some places, some relationships, and even some versions of yourself.”
Pretending is exhausting.
Pretending to get along when my spirit has already moved on.
Pretending to be fulfilled by things that no longer feed my soul.
Pretending that titles satisfy what only God’s presence can fill.
Yes, the titles sound good.
Yes, the money spends well.
But neither can replace peace.
Neither can replace purpose.
Neither can replace obedience.
So today I stand before You with nothing to hide.
No masks.
No excuses.
No performance.
Just me.
Lord, here I am.
Tired of pretending.
Ready to stop surviving and start living.
Ready to lay down everything You never asked me to carry.
Ready to embrace the truth—even when it hurts—because I know that on the other side of truth is freedom.
And if Your Word says the truth will make me free, then I choose freedom over familiarity.
I choose obedience over appearances.
I choose authenticity over acceptance.
Today, I stop pretending.
Today, I start living.
Prayer
Father, thank You for loving me enough to confront me with the truth. Search my heart and reveal every place where I have been hiding behind titles, comfort, fear, or the opinions of others. Give me the courage to release what no longer belongs in this season of my life. Strip away every mask and every false identity until all that remains is who You created me to be. I choose truth over comfort, freedom over bondage, and Your will over my own. Help me to walk boldly in authenticity, knowing that whom the Son sets free is free indeed. In
